Attitude Awards 2020: Dua Lipa Paloma Faith And Taylor Swift Win
The likes of Dua Lipa, [/tvshowbiz/taylor_swift/index.html Taylor Swift], Luke Evans, and Stephen Fry scooped gongs at the 2020 Attitude Awards on Tuesday night.
Joining the string of ceremonies that have had to skip a glitzy bash this year and go virtual, thanks to [/news/coronavirus/index.html COVID-19], the awards were hosted by comedian Tom Allen, and filmed over six days at the Camden Roundhouse - the first activity there in months.
Several guests linked in from Australia and the USA, with 14 award winners as well as representatives of the [/news/nhs/index.html NHS] LGBTQ community and the entire cast and director of Ryan Murphy's Boys in the Band movie.

Dua grew emotional as she accepted her music award, and discussed how young LGBTQ+ youth have struggled with their mental health during the coronavirus crisis.
Detailing how there has been an increase in young people who have tragically taken their lives in 2020, she urged those watching: 'If there is someone you think is vulnerable, please don't wait for them to reach out.'

After virtually accepting her speech from Todrick Hall, Taylor said she wanted to continue to advocate for the rights of the LGBTQ+ community.
As she held her award, she said: 'I'm really grateful for this, this is so amazing, I want to thank anyone who had a hand in deciding that I should deserve this.
'Mostly I want to say thank you to the fans for giving me a platform to make music and to be vocal about things that are right and wrong.
'I just believe very firmly that everyone should be able to live out their love story, without fear of discrimination, and the way for that to happen is for us to do that is to keep pushing governments to put protections in place for the LGBTQIA community.'
Taylor went on to share her support for the LGBTQ+ community, as she closed off her speech with the statement: 'I promise to always advocate for that.'

In Luke's speech while he was accepting the Man Of The Year award, he said he hoped he has helped others in the past.
He said: 'Over the years it may have seemed I wasn't the open proud gay man that I was expected to be, but I was doing it my way.
'I was cutting my own path, and in doing so I hope I provided a way for those who have not been able to come out or are from countries where it is illegal to see they're not alone.
'I hope that my journey can provide them with some hope, they can see there are millions of people who are just like them and they are not alone.'

Paloma shared an amusing anecdote during her acceptance speech, as she said: 'I'm so honoured to win this award as an Honourary gay and I feel like its wonderful to be acknowledge who and what I am after years of an identity crisis.
